General Worker position

A vacancy has arisen for the position of a full-time farm & general worker at

Lisnavagh Estate, Rathvilly, Co Carlow.

About Lisnavagh

Lisnavagh Estate is a family owned estate managed by the Lisnavagh Farm Partnership, of which William Bunbury is the managing partner. The 600 acre Estate has been in the Bunbury family since they first rented the land in 1676 and purchased it in 1708. It now includes Lisnavagh House & Gardens (a leading wedding & events venue), a number of other houses and cottages, grazing land, tillage land and woodland. The Estate is also home to the Lisnavagh Timber Project which sells hardwood timber and handcrafts uniquely traceable Bunbury Boards and other hardwood products at the Farmyard.

Description of work

This job will involve quite a wide variety of work, including basic joinery, plumbing, welding, electrical work, forestry work, fencing, spraying (if certified), set-up and clean-up relating to weddings and events, water supply repairs, driving farm machinery, operating a JCB-type digger, driving a jeep & trailer, machinery maintenance and repairs, collecting, splitting and delivering firewood within the estate, building maintenance, road & track maintenance, vermin control, maintaining the Estate walls and other duties as required.

Hours of Work and Holidays

This is a full time position, for 39 hours a week. • Hours of work are nominally 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Friday (with a half hour break for lunch each day). • Occasional brief spells of overtime, especially at weekends, may be required. • Up to 20 days holiday per calendar year. • There is no paid sick leave • Pay will be commensurate with skills and experience. • Full clean driving licence essential.
