Our Weekend Retreats
Yoga & Sleep
Peace is at the heart of the ethos at Lisnavagh House, and our Yoga and Sleep Retreat helps the process of resting and restoring the body and mind. Each weekend includes up to eight hours of yoga and meditation with highly skilled teachers who tailor their classes to suit all levels, giving you the best combination of energising exercise and relaxation.
Each guest has their own individually styled bedroom, with historic views of the gardens and parkland, including The Colonel’s Room, referred to as ‘The most magnificent bed in Ireland’ by The Irish Times, and The Oak Room with its deep copper bath. Between heavenly stretches in the yoga studio, with big fires crackling in the oak paneled library and the dining room, you can experience a multitude of delights as you unwind, curling up on a sofa with a good book, taking a snooze in the blissful quiet of your bedroom, or sipping tea as you take in expansive views of the pleasure grounds.
Mindfulness & Wilderness
Along with the restfulness of Lisnavagh House, this retreat offers time to slow right down and tune into both yourself and your surrounding’s. Sheana Keane, who exchanged her media career to qualify as a mindfulness psychologist, is deeply passionate about sharing science’s extraordinary insights into the human mind, well- being and stress resilience. This is a mindfulness course that is brilliantly practical, teaching how to apply techniques to every day life, easing stress and benefiting from learning to live in the moment. She will teach you how to get in touch with what’s around you using all your senses.
These teachings are complimented by Johnny Walshe, Head of the Bushcraft School, who will take you on gentle walks through the woodland and lanes within the Lisnavagh Estate, sharing his knowledge from tree varieties to wild life that may not be obvious at first glance. Johnny will teach you about the art of foraging, what you can eat, what you can’t eat, he’ll even show you how to create a campfire without matches and make you a cup of tea as you experience ‘forest-therapy’ of the very best kind.
Lisa Quish Yoga
“Be softer with you, you are a breathing thing, and a home to a life”
As a yoga teacher, Lisa is deeply interested in holistic health and how we respond to the changing seasons. Ayurvedic principles guide the choice of yoga practices, and the foods that suit our bodies at this time of year, and will offer the guiding principles for this short retreat. This exploration is aided by the comforts of Lisnavagh house and its beautiful grounds.
The tone of Lisa’s weekends is to relax and be kind to yourself. Enjoy locally produced vegetarian food with evenings can be spent in front of a crackling log fire with a book and a glass of wine.
Lisa’s aim is to create a light and peaceful atmosphere, that will allow you to leave the challenges of life behind, relax and embrace the season and to move and ultimately enjoy the practice of yoga. Lisa’s aim is to ensure that everyone leaves at the end of the weekend ready to move into the next season with a more balanced, relaxed and healthier mind and body.
Nourishment for the heart and soul
Emily Bunbury takes great interest in nutrition and wholly believes in the power of food. She loves cooking for her guests and takes inspiration from Ottolengi’s (as well as others) vibrant recipes as she prepares organic dishes. As Yotam Ottolenghi says, ‘A well-made salad must have a certain uniformity; it should make perfect sense for those ingredients to share a bowl.’
All meals are served in the dining room, with a large mahogany table and a fireplace that brings a huge sense of warmth. Homemade snacks are also available throughout the weekend, along with a selection of teas and coffee.
Emily lives in part of Lisnavagh House with her husband her three children. The family are very much part of the warmth of Lisnavagh House and if you would like the opportunity to learn about the history of Lisnavagh House both William and Emily are happy to fill you in…

Thank you for a peaceful weekend.— Julie, December 2016
Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend and for your hospitality throughout the weekend and amazing healthy food. I have now been inspired to create some nice healthy summer salads for the kids! I loved every minute of the yoga retreat and I definitely do hope to revisit Lisnavagh again soon. Thanks again for an unforgettable experience and weekend. I smile each time I think of Lisnavagh now and the entire experience and yoga retreat exceeded all my expectations— Grainne, June 2016
I attended your Yoga retreat in November this year. I cannot praise your efforts highly enough. The surroundings were amazing and the house was so peaceful and made me realise how noisy life can be! You were so welcoming and the food was AMAZING! I just wish you would write a cook book as I would be 1st in line for a copy! I shared the butterfly room with my sister which was comfy and cosy. Our daily Yoga sessions were just what I needed and our instructor was knowledgeable, kind and very calm! I would highly recommend Lisnavagh House and I plan to return in 2017 hopefully with Hubbie in tow!— Rosie, November 2016
