Yoga & Sleep
Peace is at the heart of the ethos at Lisnavagh House, and our Yoga and Sleep Retreat helps the process of resting and restoring the body and mind. Each weekend includes up to eight hours of yoga and meditation with Pamela Butler who tailors her classes to suit all levels, giving you the best combination of energising exercise and relaxation.
Each guest has their own individually styled bedroom, with historic views of the gardens and parkland, including The Colonel’s Room, referred to as ‘The most magnificent bed in Ireland’ by The Irish Times, and The Oak Room with its deep copper bath.
Between the yoga classes expertly guided by Pamela Butler, with big fires crackling in the oak paneled library and the dining room, you can experience a multitude of delights as you unwind, curling up on a sofa with a good book, taking a snooze in the blissful quiet of your bedroom, soaking in a luxurious bath with no time pressure, or sipping tea as you take in expansive views of the pleasure grounds.
Yoga & Mindfulness
Weaving the practical tools of yoga and mindfulness together with knowledge from the World of Philosophy and Neuroscience, Sheana Keane and Lisa Quish offer tips and tools that create space to reconnect to ourselves.
As a yoga teacher, Lisa is deeply interested in holistic health and how we respond to the changing seasons. Ayurvedic principles guide the choice of yoga practices, and the foods that suit our bodies at this time of year, and will offer the guiding principles for this short retreat. This exploration is aided by the comforts of Lisnavagh house and its beautiful grounds..
With an Msc in Mindfulness Psychology (UCD), Sheana has been practicing meditation for over 12 years as a survival tactic to cope with a hectic television career, very young kids and a tendency towards being a stress monger. As a mindfulness researcher and teacher, Sheana is deeply passionate about the human mind and sharing the insights of neuroscience and the practice of meditation and mindfulness to develop self-awareness, self-kindness and as a way to manage stress.
The programme has been designed to create practical tools for living well when you return to your life; to the distractions that separate us from feeling and knowing what is best for our health.
This experience will permit deep rest and reintegration in a way that interrupts and delays the push and pull of life.
Nourishment for the Heart and Soul
Emily Bunbury takes great interest in nutrition and wholly believes in the power of food and how we should eat with the seasons. Using organic ingredients from local suppliers and the Walled Garden at Lisnavagh, Emily loves cooking for her guests and takes inspiration from Ottolengi’s (as well as others) vibrant recipes as she prepares organic dishes. As Yotam Ottolenghi says, ‘A well-made salad must have a certain uniformity; it should make perfect sense for those ingredients to share a bowl.’
All meals are served in the dining room, with a large mahogany table and a fireplace that brings a huge sense of warmth. Homemade snacks are also available throughout the weekend, along with a selection of teas and coffee.
Emily lives in part of Lisnavagh House with her husband her three children. The family are very much part of the warmth of Lisnavagh House and if you would like the opportunity to learn about the history of Lisnavagh House both William and Emily are happy to fill you in…
Feel completely relaxed after the weekend and totally switched off from the minute I walked in the door. very sad to be leaving…— Susan, January 2107
Thank you for a peaceful weekend.— Julie, December 2016
Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend and for your hospitality throughout the weekend and amazing healthy food. I have now been inspired to create some nice healthy summer salads for the kids! I loved every minute of the yoga retreat and I definitely do hope to revisit Lisnavagh again soon. Thanks again for an unforgettable experience and weekend. I smile each time I think of Lisnavagh now and the entire experience and yoga retreat exceeded all my expectations— Grainne, June 2016
I attended your Yoga retreat in November this year. I cannot praise your efforts highly enough. The surroundings were amazing and the house was so peaceful and made me realise how noisy life can be! You were so welcoming and the food was AMAZING! I just wish you would write a cook book as I would be 1st in line for a copy! I shared the butterfly room with my sister which was comfy and cosy. Our daily Yoga sessions were just what I needed and our instructor was knowledgeable, kind and very calm! I would highly recommend Lisnavagh House and I plan to return in 2017 hopefully with Hubbie in tow!— Rosie, November 2016
